This past weekend, we had the amazing opportunity to stay and dine at the beautiful Amara Cay Resort in Islamorada. Honestly, we live in South Florida and forgot how amazing the Florida Keys is, until now. We are already counting down the days until we can visit again!

We know we know, get to the food already BUT we have to show you this amazing view first.

Just a little side not about us, we are OBSESSED with tropical vacations, with beautiful views, hence why we leave the country so much. Amara Cay Resort has showed us we can take many more tropical trips with it being so close to us!

We started off our day at the resort with a delicious lunch at “REEL BURGER”I had the “Hot Chick” which was a locals fav, and Steph had the “Backyard BBQ”.

The “Hot Chick” consists of a cilantro-lime marinated grilled chicken breast, provolone cheese, roasted tomatoes, field greens, avocado, red onion, and siracha mayo!

The “Backyard BBQ” is a custom blend beef grind, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and bacon on a brioche!

After lunch, we spent the day by the pool indulging in perfect frozen drinks and views. It was nice to just relax and enjoy the scenery.

For dinner, we went to Amara Cay Resort’s sister location “Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina” while the hotel is still under renovation after the hurricane last year, their Italian restaurant Ciao Hound is open. The best part is that the hotel provides transportation back and forth although it is only a couple miles down the road.

The first thing we noticed when we arrived at the restaurant was the “Ruff Life” patio. Yes, a patio for dogs, filled with comfy cushions. As we walked around we noticed how dog friendly the place was. They even have a doggie menu, HOW CUTE IS THAT? Next time around, we are totally taking our little pooch!

We sat outside to enjoy the breeze because it was 7pm and extremely nice out compared to Miami 7pm (LOL). Here is a picture of a section of the “people patio side”.

We started with a couple drinks which included a Key Lime Mojito (because DUH) as well as a moscow mule. We had a poll going on, on our instagram story to see which one our followers would prefer….Mojito had 60 votes while moscow mule had 48. Do you agree?

To eat, we had the burrata caprese, bruschetta tasting, baked lasagna, and linguini vongole.  WE ATE IT ALL. Everything was so delicious, rich in Italian flavor and we highly recommend you stopping by here.

After dinner, we went back to the hotel and enjoyed a few drinks by the fire pits.

SO RELAXING!

The next morning, before our resort tour with the General Manager, we had breakfast at “REEL BURGER”. I had the belgian waffle with fruit, and Steph kept it simple with a continental breakfast and a delicious smoothie!

We hung out by the pool one last time and enjoyed their amazing Bloody Mary House Specialty. It comes with a mini slider burger and a chicken wing!! SCORE!!!!

Amara Cay Resort was the first major resort to open back up in Islamorada after the hurricane last year. They did revamp a little but all of the changes made the resort much more enjoyable. The sister location “Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina” as mentioned above is still under going renovations but hopes to be opened by the end of the year. We can’t wait to visit that resort! In the meantime, check out Amara Cay if you’re looking for a relaxing, delicious, and beautiful vacation! For more see our Instagram 🙂
